Placeholder Images Overview
The Placeholder Images panel lets you configure default images used across AnmarBookings whenever a vendor, staff member, service, or other entity has not uploaded their own image.
These defaults provide a consistent, professional look for both single-vendor sites and large multivendor marketplaces, ensuring there are no “broken” or empty image spaces in the UI.

In this article we’ll review each placeholder type, how to update images, and how this affects the look of your directory and booking flows.
1. Accessing Placeholder Images
To manage placeholder images:
- Log into the WordPress Admin Dashboard.
- Navigate to Administration → General → Placeholder Images.
- Use the left sidebar to switch between Page Settings, Booking Settings, Plan Settings, Password Settings, and Placeholder Images.
Each card shows the current image and provides actions to Replace or Revert.
2. Placeholder Types
Depending on your version and configuration, you may see some or all of the following placeholder slots:
- Employee Image
- Location Image
- Service Image
- Payment Image
- Customer Image
- Extra Image
- Role Image
- Branding Image
Below is how each one is typically used:
2.1 Employee Image
Used when a staff member, provider, or employee has no profile picture.
- Multivendor marketplace: Appears for vendor staff members across many businesses.
- Single vendor business: Appears for any staff not yet onboarded with a real headshot.
2.2 Location Image
Displayed on location cards or maps when there is no custom photo for a location or branch.
2.3 Service Image
Shown on service listings, service cards, or booking flows when services have no uploaded image. Using a consistent, on-brand icon here helps keep the catalogue tidy.
2.4 Payment Image
Used in areas related to payment options, invoices, or payment summaries when no specific gateway or method logo has been provided.
2.5 Customer Image
Displayed where a customer avatar is needed and the customer has not uploaded a photo (for example, in customer lists, profile views, or internal tools).
2.6 Extra Image
A general-purpose placeholder for additional entities or modules (addons, extras, etc.) that may not have specific images.
2.7 Role Image
Used when displaying roles or user types in dashboards or marketing sections. You can keep this generic or on-brand depending on how visible role visuals are in your UI.
2.8 Branding Image
A generic branding or logo-style placeholder used where brand imagery is needed but not configured. On multivendor marketplaces, this is particularly visible before vendors upload their own branding.
3. Replacing & Reverting Images
Each card offers two primary actions:
- Replace
Opens the media picker so you can upload a new image or choose an existing one from the WordPress Media Library. - Revert
Restores the original default placeholder for that image type.
Changes are applied platform-wide:
- Multivendor marketplace: All vendors see the new placeholder wherever they haven’t uploaded their own images.
- Single vendor business: Every staff/service/location without a custom image inherits your updated branding automatically.
4. Design Guidelines & Best Practices
4.1 Recommended Image Styles
- Use simple, clean illustrations or icons that match your brand colours.
- Keep the aspect ratio consistent with how the cards are displayed (commonly 16:9 or similar).
- Avoid text-heavy images; they may not scale well on small screens.
4.2 File Size & Performance
- Optimise images to reduce file size (e.g., compressed PNG or JPEG).
- Use SVG where appropriate for icons or flat illustrations.
- For marketplaces with lots of listings, light-weight placeholders help keep pages fast.
4.3 Branding Strategy
- Multivendor marketplace: Use neutral, platform-branded placeholders so vendor listings look professional even before they upload their own images.
- Single vendor business: Use images that strongly reflect your brand style so any unconfigured item still looks “on-brand.”
5. Rollout Checklist
- Decide on a consistent visual style (flat icons, illustrations, or photo-based).
- Upload and assign placeholders for all major entity types you use.
- Visit a few front-end listing pages and booking flows to verify how they look without custom images.
- Adjust or replace placeholders as your branding evolves.
