Editing a Service Category

Editing a service category allows you to update its name, status, or adjust how it appears across your platform. This is useful when rebranding, reorganizing services, or temporarily disabling a category without deleting it.

How to Edit a Service Category

  1. Go to Settings → Services → Service Categories.
  2. Locate the category you want to update.
  3. Click the Edit (pencil) icon in the Actions column.

The Edit Service Category dialog will appear, allowing you to modify its details.

Editable Fields

  • Service Name – Rename the category if needed.
  • Service Status – Choose whether the category is Active or Inactive.

Status Explained

  • Active: The category remains available for businesses and visible where applicable.
  • Inactive: The category becomes hidden from new assignments and frontend views, but remains stored in the system.

Practical Examples

  • Single Vendor Example: A salon renames “Hair Styling” to “Hair & Styling” for branding consistency.
  • Multivendor Marketplace Example: An admin temporarily disables the “Nightlife” category during a restructuring phase.

Saving Your Changes

Once you have updated the required fields:

  1. Click SAVE.
  2. Your changes will be applied immediately.

The updated category will now reflect across all connected services and filters.


Best Practices

  • Use concise, clear names that remain intuitive for end-users.
  • Inactive is often safer than deleting if you might need the category again later.
  • Always review related services after editing critical categories.
