Deleting a Service Category

Deleting a service category completely removes it from your platform. This should only be done when the category is no longer required and will not be used by any services or vendors.

How to Delete a Service Category

  1. Go to Settings → Services → Service Categories.
  2. Find the category you wish to remove.
  3. Click the Delete (trash) icon in the Actions column.

A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to verify this action.

The confirmation modal will display a warning message to ensure you understand the impact of this action.

To proceed:

  • Click DELETE to permanently remove the category.
  • Click CANCEL if you change your mind.

Important Before Deleting

  • Ensure no active services are assigned to this category.
  • Reassign any linked services to another category first.
  • Understand this action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Practical Scenarios

  • Single Vendor Example: A clinic removes a category after discontinuing a class of services.
  • Multivendor Marketplace Example: An admin deletes unused categories created during early testing phases.

Best Practices

  • Use Inactive instead of Delete if unsure.
  • Clean up test data only in development environments.
  • Notify vendors if deleting categories that may impact their service listings.

Deleting categories should be part of an intentional cleanup process, not day-to-day management.
